Wireless systems
RSL are a keen user of wireless technology in our systems, and where appropriate RSL take full advantage of modern wireless technology. For example a wireless connection may be used at a bus stop kiosk, where hard wiring to an internet source could mean resurfacing an entire section of road and cause serious delays.
Our wireless systems can either be: point to point (one connection to another) or a mesh (one system with many interlinking wireless components, making it very easy to add additional components).
At Pocklington RSL provided wireless systems to ensure that the cables didn’t need to cross a busy road, which would have involved 100 metres of carriageway and foot paths.
At Hatfield’s DeHaviland Campus a mesh system was used to connect 4 departure screens located around the University complex to a central controlling unit.
At Hemel town centre a control centre located in the tourist information centre was linked to 11 bus stands in a 1/2 mile radius, 2 interactive kiosks and 1 departure screen; wireless technology being essential.
