Westfield Shopping Centre

Modern desk mounted units have been installed by RSL in various locations over the UK, with the latest 2 at Westfield shopping centre in Derby, proving a great success.

Our brief was to work in conjunction with the desk designers to provide a solution which was accessible to all, including wheelchair users, children and the general public.

 RSL installed kiosks which included:

  • 17” touch screen interactive screens,
  • Keyboard/tracker ball alternative navigation,
  • Communal printer, which feeds out to the rear of the desk to be handed to the user,
  • Secure desk fittings to protect against damage and spillages,
  • Remote monitoring of the system to ensure maximum efficiency

The desk structures were installed at convenient times as to cause minimal disturbance to shoppers and staff ensuring maximum customer satisfaction.

The content software was developed by one of RSL’s partners Steer Davies Gleave and provides valuable information on topics such as public transport, interactive mapping, available car parking spaces and various related information.

As with a lot of the systems we provide they are remotely monitored and maintained by RSL and have generated very encouraging user statistics during the first few weeks of operation. For more information on how RSL maintain our units remotely see the RSL Watchman page.

RSL have been involved with shopping centres around the UK for many years, providing information terminals aimed at helping shoppers locate individual stores, realize special offers and have extremely accurate transport information when leaving shopping centers.
